Grama Niketan was launched in 2007, as a charitable society, committed to rural development and social research. Grama Niketan is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered under Travancore, Cochin-Literary Scientific, Charitable society’s registration Act 1955 Reg No:I-74/2007. It is also affiliated with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Idukki (Affiliation No: 3009/08) and the Kerala State Youth Welfare Board (Affiliation No: F 149).
Grama Niketan aims not just development and progress, but our team of experts continuously strives to ensure that this progress is sustained for the future. Grama Niketan works with a Head Office in Vazhuthacaud, Thiruvananthapuram,Regional office at Parathode Idukki and an Administrative office at Trivandrum, Thodupuzha.

Vision of Grama Niketan which dovetails with the Gandhi darshan that ‘future of India lies in the villages’, radiated out of our growing understanding about the lack of enough research on rural areas, runs sharply athwart conventional presumptions.
Grama Niketan tries to ensure social development through increased community participation and co-operation among groups at grass root level. As an organization formed for the overall development and upliftment of its members, Grama Niketan intends to promote all social, cultural, educational and economic activities and establishes and administers any such activity that could fall under the mandate
